How to Plan a Shared Kids Party | Baby care | Health and Fitness ...

The best way to throw a party for your child and not have to spend the earth is to share it.

Share the work, share cost and share the fun!

Here?s some top tips on how to go about planning a joint party:

1. If your child is at school, there will probably be a child or two whose birthdays fall around the same time. Find out if your child plays with or is friends with these children before suggesting it to their parents. If the idea of sharing a party is not so appealing to your child at first, it?s usually just a case of gentle persuasion. Most younger children are not really fussed about having to share their party with as long as they have one.

2. Speak to the parents of your child?s friends about your thoughts. You might find that they were probably thinking along the same lines and were going to approach you about it anyway.

Don?t leave it too late to speak to the parents as you don?t want them to make alternative plans and not be available.

3. If your friends are happy to go ahead with a joint party, arrange a suitable time to meet up and discuss the party. Apart from agreeing a date here?s just a few things that you would need to talk about:

Party Venue

Entertainment

Party Theme

How many kids to invite

Food

Party tableware and decorations

Party Bags

4. Once you have agreed a date between yourselves and what you would like to do for the party, you will need to plan each stage step by step and split out tasks.

An easy way to do this is write a list of all the things that need to be done and assign a task to each parent. Just make sure they are happy about doing it, more than one get together may be required.

5. Allow enough time for each task. If you are hiring a venue, make sure you book it in plenty of time. The same applies to an entertainer, giving out party invitations and chasing up replies.

6. A week or two before the party, you will need to meet up again to finalise numbers and make sure everything is in place. You don?t want any last minute surprises!

It really does make sense these days to team up with friends or relatives as not only will the whole party work out cheaper, but there will be more help on the day too resulting in a stress free, enjoyable day for all.
