Wedding Ring Set including a Blue Sapphire Gemstone Engagement Ring - Bridal Jewelry - Recycled Sterling Silver - Imitation Sapphire by thebeadgirl

Handcrafted wedding ring set including a stunning blue sapphire engagement ring.

A 6mm hammered band for him. A 4mm hammered band for her. Choose a matte or shiny finish. Paired with a gorgeous deep blue 6mm or .75 carat imitation sapphire set in recycled sterling silver.

This sapphire engagement ring is a trendy alternative to a diamond. Long ago a sapphire was gifted as a pledge of trust and loyalty. Perfect for an engagement!

I have chosen an imitation sapphire. Obviously it is much more cost effective, but it is equally stunning. You can see the facets in this stone that reflect the light beautifully!

The bands can be custom stamped on the inside with initials, a date or a short phrase.

This ring will be custom created for you upon your order.

Adobe, Salesforce Launch Twitter Ad Campaigns

Adding to Twitter's fire hose of information will be full advertising campaigns brought to the world by three of the company's initial ad partners: Adobe, Salesforce and Shift.

TBG Digital, a Facebook Ads API partner, and Hootsuite were also part of Twitter's initial partner group, and others can now sign up if they want to get better access to the company's 200 million members.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud

As the largest of the Twitter ad launch partners, Salesforce has the most to gain in the deal. Actually, they might have the most to lose, depending on your point of view, but that's not likely to happen. Both companies are too successful, and have put too much energy into it to allow that.

Salsesforce has launched its Social Ads Platform for Twitter, and Twitter ads should be the biggest development in social media marketing since Facebook debuted its app development platform back in 2007, Michael Lazerow wrote on a Salesforce blog this week.

The Social Ads Platform could be used to create ads, scale them and properly bid and target them. It will be a bit of companion piece to the company's already established Certified Twitter Products for Analytics and Engagement. While the Social Ads Platform is currently running in closed beta, Salesforce is offering a free webinar Feb. 28 at 2 pm EST for those interested in doing Twitter ads.

screenshot-salesforcetwitterads-2013.jpg
All of Twitter's Ads API launch partners have existing marketing deals with the company. Now they are expanding.

Adobe Media Optimizer

Like Salesforce, Adobe has been working with Twitter's Promoted Product Ads API for many months, and by adding the new Ads API, companies will get new features in the Adobe Media Optimizer. These include setting ad budgets and schedules, and targeting choices like locations, hashtags or device types, among others.

GraphEffect by Shift + TBG Digital

Shift is a collaborative marketing firm that calls itself an open marketing platform. It will integrate the Twitter Ads API into its GraphEffect product. This suite of marketing tools includes Facebook integration, of course, and with the Twitter addition, it should make cross channel campaigns a bit more streamlined.

TBG Digital has announced it is integrating the Twitter Ads API into its ONE Media Manager platform to engage consumers and improve analytics. Specifically, TBG plans to make use of Twitter's growing importance on the so-called second screen.

People are increasingly watching television while they casually view their mobile devices, a phenomenon prominently displayed during the Super Bowl. Fully half of the commercials included a Twitter hashtag, TBG pointed out in a blog post announcing its Ads API plans.

It's obvious the promise Twitter holds for gaining a new advertising audience, and the combined presence of the initial Ads API launch partners is a testament to how widespread that belief is. All the companies who were chosen are leaders in social marketing, so the next round could be more of the same. That is, more large marketing companies might be lining up to do business with Twitter.

We're curious to see if any non-marketing firms will be included in the next round, however. In other words, will Twitter start letting in other kinds of companies right away or will it slowly roll out the API only to the largest marketers?

Insects inspiring new technology: Autonomous navigation of mobile robots based on locust vision

Feb. 21, 2013 ? The way in which the locust's distinctive visual system could be transferred into technology for state of the art vehicle collision sensors, surveillance technology and video games has been detailed as part of robotics research being carried out by an academic from the University of Lincoln (UK).

Scientists from the University of Lincoln and Newcastle University have created a computerised system which allows for autonomous navigation of mobile robots based on the locust's unique visual system.

The work could provide the blueprint for the development of highly accurate vehicle collision sensors, surveillance technology and even aid video game programming, according to the research published this week.

Locusts have a distinctive way of processing information through electrical and chemical signals, giving them an extremely fast and accurate warning system for impending collisions. The insect has incredibly powerful data processing systems built into its biology, which can in theory be recreated in robotics.

Inspired by the visual processing power built into these insects' biology, Professor Shigang Yue from the University of Lincoln's School of Computer Science and Dr Claire Rind from Newcastle University's Institute of Neuroscience created the computerised system.

Their findings are published in the International Journal of Advanced Mechatronic Systems.

The research started by understanding the anatomy, responses and development of the circuits in the locust brain that allow it to detect approaching objects and avoid them when in flight or on the ground.

A visually stimulated motor control (VSMC) system was then created which consists of two movement detector types and a simple motor command generator. Each detector processes images and extracts relevant visual clues which are then converted into motor commands.

Prof Yue said: "We were inspired by the way the locusts' visual system works when interacting with the outside world and the potential to simulate such complex systems in software and hardware for various applications. We created a system inspired by the locusts' motion sensitive interneuron -- the lobula giant movement detector. This system was then used in a robot to enable it to explore paths or interact with objects, effectively using visual input only."

Funded by the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), the research was carried out as part of a collaborative project with the University of Hamburg in Germany and Tsinghua University and Xi'an Jiaotong University, China.

The primary objective of the project, which started in 2011 and runs for four years, is to build international capacity and cooperation in the field of biologically inspired visual neural systems.

Prof Yue explained: "Effective computer vision is a major research challenge. Vision plays a critical role in the interaction of most animal species, and even relatively low order animals have remarkable visual processing capabilities. For example, insects can respond to approaching predators with remarkable speed. This research demonstrates that modelling biologically plausible artificial visual neural systems can provide new solutions for computer vision in dynamic environments. For example, it could be used to enable vehicles to understand what is happening on the road ahead and take swifter action."

Dr Claire Rind has been working on the locust's visual system for several years.

She said: "Developing robot neural network programmes, based on the locust brain, has allowed us to create a programme allowing a mobile robot to detect approaching objects and avoid them. It's not the conventional approach as it avoids using radar or infrared detectors which require very heavy-duty computer processing. Instead it is modelled on the locust's eyes and neurons as the basis of a collision avoidance system.

"Taking this work forward we want to apply it to collision avoidance systems in vehicles which is a major challenge for the automotive industry. While some collision-avoidance features are pricey options on luxury cars, their performance is not always as good as it could be -- and they come at a high cost. This research offers us important insights into how we can develop a system for the car which could improve performance to such a level that we could take out the element of human error."

The Sequester Wobbles the GOP's 'Three-Legged Stool'

Ronald Reagan Library/Getty Images)

US President Ronald Reagan holds the trunk of a baby elephant, presented to him in a ceremony by President Jayewardene of Sri Lanka on June 18,1984.

In many ways the showdown underway in Washington over the budget sequester is complicated and confusing. But on one level is it clarifying: It has revealed the supremacy of the Republican Party?s economic wing over its other key factions.

For decades, Republicans have talked about their three-legged stool?the coalition assembled by Ronald Reagan that has defined their party ever since: economic conservatives, social conservatives and defense conservatives. The three groups have never worked in perfect harmony. But when there?s tension, it?s usually among social and economic conservatives. Heartland evangelicals and Wall Street financiers have precious little in common. Evangelical Republicans, for instance, had little love for an economy-first candidate like Mitt Romney. But their (last) favorite candidate, the intensely pro-life Rick Santorum, was ultimately steamrolled. George W. Bush labored to keep social conservatives on his side with issues like a gay marriage ban. But ultimately many evangelicals were disappointed with his presidency.

Now comes the sequester, which has, for the first time since at least September 11, 2001, put the GOP?s defense and economic wings in conflict. With the sequester scheduled to inflict $46 billion in cuts to the Pentagon budget, President Obama has offered an alternative that would mitigate the cuts, in part, by raising taxes on the wealthy. But Republican leaders won?t swallow any new taxes or accept smaller cuts to the federal budget.

And so, defense will get the budget ax. And national security conservatives, long accustomed to being granted virtually every wish by their party, find themselves appalled. Bill Kristol, a reliable spokesman for the GOP?s defense wing, calls the sequester ?deeply irresponsible,? and a threat to national security (in part, he says, because it will force the military to keep one aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf instead of two). John McCain, who shares Kristol?s passion for defense, has hinted he might support closing tax loopholes to blunt the Pentagon cuts.

But it appears that the likes of Kristol and McCain have lost out to economic conservatives, who insist that nothing?not even the defense budget?is more important than shrinking the budget without raising taxes. The Republican party still is a long way from civil war. But that stool is looking awfully wobbly right now.

Why promising minority students aren't signing up for AP exams

The number of high school students passing at least one Advanced Placement (AP) exam is up overall this year, but students from minority groups still lag behind their white peers, particularly in math and science.

Among members of the class of 2012, more than 32.4 percent (950,000 students) took at least one AP exam, up from 30.2 percent in 2011. A decade ago, the number was 18 percent, according to an annual report released Wednesday by the College Board, which administers the tests.

But the College Board also finds that many minority and low-income students, even those with a high likelihood of succeeding on AP exams, aren?t taking them. For students deemed likely to pass an AP mathematics exam, only 30 percent of African-American and Hispanic students and 20 percent of American-Indian students signed up for the test, compared with 40 percent of white students and 60 percent Asian and Pacific Islander students.

RECOMMENDED: Are you as well-read as a 10th grader? Take our quiz.

?It?s really unconscionable that we?re not better as a nation at helping students from underserved backgrounds prepare for and enroll in AP courses,? says Trevor Packer, College Board senior vice president for AP.

Since its inception in the 1950s, the AP program has grown into a staple of the college preparatory curriculum in American high schools. The AP curriculum teaches college-level material to high school students in 31 subjects across a wide range of disciplines, including both traditional courses like physics and US history and atypical specialties like human geography and Japanese language and culture.

Passing an AP exam in high school is correlated to a higher college grade point average and an increased likelihood of graduating from a four-year college, the College Board reports. It can also bring down tuition costs for students who enter college with credits earned through AP scores. Exams are scored on a five-point scale ? three points or higher counts as passing and can be used for college credit or placement at many universities.

Want your top political issues explained? Get customized DC Decoder updates.

Enrollment in AP courses has recently become more diverse. In 2002, less than 18 percent of AP exam takers were so-called ?underserved minorities.? Now the figure is 26 percent. And the number of low-income students in the AP program has grown from 11 percent to nearly 27 percent in the same time period. This is due in part to widespread subsidies to help offset the test's nearly $100 price tag.

Mr. Packer says that low-enrollment in AP courses and exams among minority students is often a function of availability. But other education experts argue that the problem is more systemic.

When it comes to math and science, minority students are ?often not recognized as the smart kids in the class,? says Mary Walker, an education professor at the University of Texas in Austin who focuses on math and science education.

If you don?t cultivate students? interest and aptitude for a subject early in their educational careers, she says, increasing their access to AP exams may simply be too little too late.

?If you don?t get them interested at middle school level they won?t be on track to take advanced courses in high school because they won?t have taken the necessary prerequisites,? she says.

The ?high likelihood? that a student will pass an AP exam is determined by looking at a student?s score on the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) ? an SAT-style test the College Board offers to high school sophomores and juniors. Students with certain qualifying scores on one or more sections of that exam have at least a 60 percent chance of passing an AP exam, the College Board reports.

You are a remnant of humanity who has been Saved by an advanced, space-faring civilization so that you can retake Earth from an alien menace descending from something known as the Great Enemy. You, along with thousands of other humans, survive in a small area called the Community. From here, you stage expeditions out into the wild of Earth to fend off alien creatures, retake land, and investigate the mysteries that followed these aliens from wherever they came from. You are, for lack of a better term, an Explorator.

Now then, this being an OOC thread, everyone can feel free to post and re-post their characters in here, as well as bring up any questions, suggestions, or issues relating to the RP. Talk it up with everyone else involved. Anything, just as long as it's reasonably related to the RP
Also, feel free to PM me at any time, and I will respond ASAP.

As for posting in the IC thread, I will also lay down some rules.

-Don't post multiple times in a row. Make sure most everyone else gets a chance to post again before you do.
-You can edit your posts if you want, as long as it won't affect something someone else has written after you too badly, and if you do edit your posts, make sure it's obvious to someone who may have read your original post. Signify with something like this: Post Edited
-If too many people are to join, I'd like the amount of posts you make per day to be limited to three. For now, we're all good. As long as there isn't clutter and everyone has their chances to react to the happenings, no limit.
-Don't Godmod. That's pretty standard. Basically, it means not to take control of someone else's character in your own post.
-Lastly, make your posts a decent length.

Samsung Galaxy S4 specs leak once again

Samsung Galaxy S4 specs have leaked via a PDF document from a South Korean financial services firm, also reporting the upcoming flagship handset could be with us in March this year.

According to the PDF, the Samsung Galaxy S4 could sport a 5-inch Full 1920 x 1080p HD display, 2 GB of RAM and run the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Originally, reports suggested that the next Samsung flagship would host an octa-core Exynos 5410 processor, but this leak has listed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be powered by a quad-core Exynos 5440 Cortex A15 processor instead. Not quite the super-charged processor most were expecting but still a leap from the Exynos 4412 Cortex A9 offered by the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The leaked specs also list the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date as March this year, in line with reports that a trusted insider claimed ?Samsung will announce the Galaxy S4 on March 15, but the place of Samsung?s Unpacked event is still top-secret.?

Samsung has already confirmed it will not be using the launching pad of MWC to reveal the Samsung Galaxy S4, instead utilising the Barcelona-based conference to launch other devices in its smartphone and tablet ranges including the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.

The iPhone 5 rival is rumoured to launch with a 13-megapixel rear camera, 4G connectivity, a powerful 3100mAh battery and internal storage options of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

Of course, the accuracy of this leaked information is still unknown, so the listed specs are subject to change come the Samsung Galaxy S4 official launch.

With a likely mid-April Samsung Galaxy S4 release date after a March launch, leaked pictures of the next-gen flagship smartphone tipped April 22 to be the day the handset appears in stores.

What specs would make you opt for the Samsung Galaxy S4 over the iPhone 5? Do you this you can wait until after MWC to see the Samsung Galaxy S4? Drop us a line at the Trusted Reviews Facebook and Twitter feeds or use the comments section below.

"Die Hard" action beats love stories at box office

(Reuters) - The fifth movie in the Bruce Willis "Die Hard" franchise scored the biggest box-office action over the U.S. holiday weekend, beating out love story "Safe Haven," which came in third for the Friday-through-Sunday period.

"A Good Day to Die Hard," with Willis returning as the tenacious wise-cracking hero John McClane, pulled in $25 million at U.S. and Canadian theaters from Friday through Sunday, according to studio estimates.

The tally was expected to approach $40 million through Monday, the Presidents Day holiday in the United States.

"Die Hard" beat "Safe Haven," an adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel that was aimed at luring couples during the week of Valentine's Day. The film, which stars Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel, pulled in $21.4 million over three days.

Last weekend's box-office winner, the Melissa McCarthy comedy "Identity Thief," stayed strong and ended up taking second place with $23.4 million.

Willis prevailed with his reprisal of a role he played four previous times starting with the original "Die Hard" in 1988. Those movies grossed $1.1 billion around the world and made Willis a global action star.

In the new movie, McClane travels to Russia to help his estranged son, a CIA operative played by Jai Courtney, in a fight to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist.

Chris Aronson, president of domestic distribution at 20th Century Fox studio, said the film performed "right on par with our expectations," which was near $40 million for the five-day period through Monday.

Audiences were about 55 percent male and 45 percent female, with just over one-third under the age of 25 and two-thirds 25 and older, which Aronson said was in line with the franchise's last installment.

"It just shows the consistency of the fan base," he said.

The opening was nearly double the total of the original "Die Hard," adjusted for inflation, but down significantly from the previous three films in the franchise, according to figures from boxofficemojo.com.

News Corp's 20th Century Fox spent about $92 million to produce the latest "Die Hard" sequel. It hit theaters on Thursday, Valentine's Day, and, in addition to "Safe Haven," faced another romance movie in "Beautiful Creatures." Fox promoted "Die Hard" with commercials encouraging moviegoers to "get some action" on Valentine's Day.

"Beautiful Creatures," the supernatural love story about a teen girl with magical powers, made its debut with $7.5 million at the box office to rank sixth.

The film was another of several Hollywood films aiming to capture the "Twilight" and "Hunger Games" audiences of teen girls with adaptations of popular young adult novels.

Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros.' executive vice president of theatrical distribution, said "Beautiful Creatures," produced by Alcon Entertainment for about $60 million, had a number of competitors on a busy weekend and the studio had hoped for a bigger turnout. "It just missed the audience," Goldstein said.

"Safe Haven" stars "Dancing with the Stars" alum Hough as a young woman who meets a widower played by Duhamel. Privately held Relativity Media produced the film for $28 million.

The studio said the film had performed in line with industry expectations of $20 million to $25 million, and would likely place second from the Thursday-to-Monday holiday period.

In fourth place, family film "Escape from Planet Earth," pulled in $16.1 million. The $40 million animated movie features the voices of Brendan Fraser and Sarah Jessica Parker in the story of an astronaut who finds trouble when he responds to a distress call from an alien planet.

Zombie romance "Warm Bodies," in its third weekend of release, took the No. 5 slot with $9 million.

"Identity Thief" was released by Universal Pictures, a unit of Comcast Corp. The privately held Weinstein Co released "Escape from Planet Earth." Lions Gate Entertainment's Summit studio released "Warm Bodies." "Beautiful Creatures" was produced by Alcon Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc.

Can I be a Male

I can feel it...creeping towards me...like the dark of the night...quietly catching me. It spreads without sound...pulling at me...tearing me apart...stranding me alone...it's so nogalistic yet dreadful ...that edgy voice...this cold air...those crystal blue eyes...every little thing...suffocating me...trapping me inside a labyrinth of memories...

Video: Gun ownership on the rise among women

>>> just 90 minutes after the president's antigun violence speech in chicago there were four shootings on the streets of that city. as it struggles with an epidemic of gun violence , which brings us to our week-long special series "flashpoint guns in america." tonight we look at a growing trend in this country as more and more women turn to guns to protect themselves. nbc's stephanie gosk went to texas and found one woman who believes that owning a gun saved her life.

>> reporter: everywhere erin goes now she says her gun is on her after that terrifying night three weeks ago. i looked up and he was like this pointing a gun straight at me and i'm just looking at the end of the gun.

>> reporter: three men, one of them armed, broke into erin 's house an hour outside of houston. she was alone with her 6-year-old son. out numbered and scared, the young mother had one thought. my gun, my gun, my gun. that was it. that was the one thing that was going to save me.

>> reporter: erin tricked the intruders into her bedroom where she managed to grab her gun.

>> reporter: i jushe shot one in the stomach and another wrestled her gun away kneeing her in the eye but all three fled. erin believes having a gun saved her life. erin did eventually call 911 but she wasn't able to until after the intruders had left. a lot of women who believe they need guns for self-defense are concerned that help won't get there in time. line up your sights. patsy quigley has been training women and writing books about self-defense since the '90s after close friend was raped. it was not easy for me to get a publisher for my book because there were so many women who were against guns.

>> reporter: she noticed big changes in women 's attitudes towards guns. today the number of women buying them is on the rise. a gallup poll reported that in 200513% of all women owned a gun. that number jumped to 23% in 2011 . many like stacy adams say they are buying guns to protect themselves. there aren't many men i know who aren't bigger and stronger than i am. so even in the best scenario i'm already at a loss.

>> reporter: the number could spike even higher this year triggered by shootings in aurora, colorado and newtown, connecticut. the increase with women has really been apparent over the last i'd say four to eight weeks.

>> reporter: it's a trend that worries those who believe more guns could put people in danger especially women . the evidence is very strong that a gun in the home increases the risk for of course gun accident. the evidence is overwhelming that a gun in the home increases the risk for suicide and the evidence is very strong a gun in the home increases the risks.

>> reporter: even advocates admit there are times guns are good protection. nobody needs to explain that to erin . it is extremely terrifying to have somebody come in your window.

>> reporter: in that moment she says a gun was exactly what she needed. stephanie gosk, nbc news, magnolia, texas>>> when we

Apple Loses iPhone Trademark in Brazil

Gradiente Eletronica wins exclusive rights to name in South America's largest market.

As expected, Apple has officially lost the iPhone trademark in Brazil, with the company already lodging an appeal.

The Brazilian Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) ruled against Apple in a lawsuit filed by Brazilian company Gradiente Eletronica. The latter released an Android-powered smartphone called the "iPHONE" in January.

Gradiente registered the name in 2000, seven years before Apple launched its flagship device. Apple has, however, retained the rights to use the name to sell merchandise such as clothing, software, and in advertising. (The ruling is limited solely to handsets.)

Apple has already filed an appeal to see the decision overruled. It argued that Gradiente hasn?t used the iPhone trademark between 2008 and early this year and has thus asked Brazilian regulators to remove the registration.

Apple will still be able to continue to sell its smartphone in Brazil for now, although it's unclear for how long. Gradiente has stated that it had secured the legal rights to the name until 2018.

Sony Patent Reveals The EyePad

Sony Patent Reveals The EyePad

A newly published European patent application (filed in summer 2012) reveals that Sony has put some amount of effort into developing a tablet-like controller interface, dubbed the EyePad (via Engadget). The existence of a patent, discovered by GameChup, doesn't necessarily mean that this is a thing that will happen and be sold. It's certainly noteworthy, especially with Sony's next-gen console reveal believed to be happening next week.?

The name 'EyePad' is an evolution of Sony's motion-sensing EyeToy camera, though there's obviously a tricky tie to Apple's own wildly popular line of tablets. The patent doc describes an input device with six-axis motion sensors, joystick controls (only one analog stick is pictured in the design sketch), and lit edges that "provide a similar functionality to that of the illuminated ball of the Playstation Move." The would-be device is also equipped with a pair of cameras that, together, can sense depth in a manner similar to Microsoft's Kinect.?

It's all very intriguing, though it's important to remain realistic about what we're seeing here. Patents are filed all the time, for all sorts of crazy ideas. The PS Vita makes it clear that Sony sees the value in touch-based controls, but this EyeToy could easily just be an experiment and nothing more.

Tricks Your Left Brain is Playing On You (And What You Can Do About It)

Tricks Your Left Brain is Playing On You (And What You Can Do About It)The truth is: your left brain is probably playing tricks on you and robbing you of creative ideas. Most people feel comfortable going from point A to point B, systematically building on the previous step. They love control and organization, logic rules their world, and they're uncomfortable with randomness. They think stepping outside tried and true paradigms is counterproductive and a waste of time. If you're in this group, this mode of thinking has probably served you well in many areas except in terms of creativity.

As a matter of fact, you're so comfortable with the left brain linear approach that it has probably tricked you into believing you're not creative. Before we talk about ways your left brain is tricking you, let's take a moment to talk about the right brain left brain theory.

The Right Brain Left Brain Theory

The right brain left brain dominance theory goes something like this: each side of the brain controls different types of thinking and people usually prefer one to the other.

If you're left brain dominant, your style of thinking is logical, focused, and analytical. You tend to think in a linear fashion.

If you're right brain dominant, you're intuitive, holistic, and creative. You tend to think in a nonlinear fashion.

Both sides or modes of thinking are equally important and when combined can be powerful. The truth is, the brain is much more complicated than this and works in a more interconnected way. However, this theory is still a great way to refer to the two modes of thinking because it's so widely known and the labels are now synonymous with linear and nonlinear styles of thinking. It's a simple and effective way to refer to and visualize how we use our brains.

Why Creativity is Crucial

How we use our brains is not only crucial to our survival, it also determines whether we succeed or fail. Our world is changing at a rapid rate and this makes it necessary to be able to think in a nonlinear fashion as well as a linear fashion.

We need use our right brains to get the "big picture," and generate creative ideas and novel approaches to think strategically. We have to improve our brain power. On that note, let's take a look at how our "left brain" tricks us into thinking we aren't creative.

5 Tricks Your Left Brain Plays on You

Here are five sneaky ways your left brain tricks you. Once you know what they are, you'll have a much better chance at avoiding them.

Limited View

The view from inside the left brain linear approach is limiting. Think of a straight line (the line represents your thinking). You start at a specific point (the points represent your ideas) and you build step by step on that point. This way of thinking is organized, controlled, and works well in specific situations, albeit limiting. Now think of a circle (the circle represents your mode of thinking) with many random points (the points represent ideas) inside that circle that can be connected in novel ways. Not as logical?but many more unique connections. If you picture nonlinear in terms of a circle you can see that it opens up the possibility of unlimited creative ideas. This type of thinking is crucial in an environment that is changing rapidly.

Linear = Safe

We tend to feel a certain amount of control and safety in a tried and true structure. In this case, left brain thinking provides that organized structure. We go from one step to the next. We are very focused. The outcome is fairly predictable. It's a safe approach. The problem is that it's not safe to be stuck in this mode of thinking. Quite the contrary, it appears nonlinear thinking is becoming safer in terms of survival and being able to succeed in today's world. Thinking outside paradigms and thinking in creative ways is proving to be a powerful skill to have.

Logic

Logic is powerful. However, when we step outside of logic we can utilize the power of intuition. Intuition pulls its information from seemingly invisible sources that we can't point to but that we are in tune with. When you think in a nonlinear creative fashion, intuition is your guide.

Part to Whole

Putting parts together to get a whole is necessary for building things. You take pieces, line them up, make a whole, and then draw conclusions. However, sometimes it is more advantageous to look at the whole first and break it down into parts. Right brain thinking looks at the whole first. In this ever-changing world we need to get the "big picture" view first in order to maneuver life.

You're Not Creative

The left brain tricks you into thinking you're not creative and can't generate new ideas. When we get used to something, we get stuck in a pattern. This makes it difficult to break out of a limited mode of thinking. In this case, you may identify with being logical and analytical and may be disconnected from your creative right brain.

If you're left brain dominant, don't fall for its tricks. Try opening up to activities that will help you prime your creative right brain pump. Adding creative thinking to the strength of your left brain may be the secret weapon you're looking for to succeed in today's world.

LeAnn Rimes sues dentist over mouth mess

Nbc / Getty Images Contributor

By Bruna Nessif and Claudia Rosenbaum, E! Online

LeAnn Rimes is one very unhappy camper.?The 30-year-old country crooner has filed a lawsuit against her dentist, Dr. Duane C. McKay, whom she claims misdiagnosed her dental problems and gave her substandard veneers and crowns which led to "severe tooth pain, gum inflammation and chronic gum bleeding."

Because of that, Rimes says she had to subsequently have nine root canals, bone grafting, a temporary bridge, physical therapy and suffered a "permanent cosmetic deficiency."

View the lawsuit

The singer claims her "ability to perform as an artist has been and will continue to significantly compromised until all re-treatment is completed," and is seeking unspecified general damages and money for medical expenses and "emotional and psychiatric injuries" and money for loss of wages.

However, Eddie Cibrian's wife didn't mind showing off her pearly whites when she debuted her latest 'do.

"Love my Andy Lacompte! I got banged :)," LeAnn wrote, linking to a picture of herself and the famed hair stylist. "love em! Was time for a fun change."

Well, at least her teeth have nothing to do with that bikini bod
