From the Proposal to the Wedding to the Happily Ever After | Your ...

You might be one of the 8 million people who have watched the video of Isaac proposing to his girlfriend Amy in a highly-choreographed routine. Some are calling it ?the marriage proposal to beat? and asking if anyone can compete with it.

The proposal?was undoubtedly a sweet and romantic moment in their lives (and thanks to YouTube, in the life of anyone who wants to see the video clip). But even Isaac admitted that although he did not think Amy would say no, he thought that his production would make it less likely that she would decline.

We cannot forget that asking for someone?s hand in marriage is stressful and nerve-wracking. However, let?s not lose perspective of what really matters here. Over the last couple of decades, marriage proposals and weddings have become so elaborate that it seems to overshadow the state of the actual relationship.

Does the relationship have what it takes to last a lifetime???Would you still say ?I do? sanspublic marriage proposals (TV, ballfields) and thousand-of-dollars weddings? Some couples get so carried away by wedding plans and overlook that, after the wedding day, they may not have common goals, shared values, or the commitment to make their marriage work.

Remember What Matters Most

I have also heard the wedding day described as the ?most important day of your life.? This makes me ponder, what happens after the most important day of your life is lived?? Do we have anything else to look forward to?

It sounds entirely daunting to place a lifetime into a single day. This is not to say that our proposal or wedding day is not a memorable and unforgettable day, but I hope there are many more days to look forward to since there is a lifetime still to be lived.

Ultimately, we should not overlook that Isaac and Amy are both actors, and perhaps Isaac did what he knows to do?put on a production for an audience. As for the rest of us: Make your marriage proposal something that fits you and your relationship.

And most importantly, make the commitment to put as much effort into the relationship as you would into planning the perfect proposal and wedding day. That might actually make you the happiest for years to come.

Petronet?s Dahej LNG terminal on India?s west coast is due to get a cargo of LNG onboard the?138,097 cbm Disha from Qatar on June 2, according to shipping data.

The Dahej terminal in Gujarat is India?s first LNG import terminal and has a nominal capacity of 10 MMTPA.

The terminal is meeting around 20% of the total gas demand of the country.

Kalon McMahon: The Bachelorette Villain Ready to Flake Out Over Emily Maynard's Daughter?

The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard's #1 priority is her 6-year-old daughter, Ricki. Kalon McMahon, a.k.a. the "villain" that ABC really wants you to hate (and a bunch of the guys probably do) this season, apparently feels otherwise.

On tonight's episode, he makes his feelings about fatherhood known.

"I always had believed that my first child would be one of my own, so obviously embracing you and Ricki as a part of my life ... it's not the way I wrote it up in my journal as a kid," he boldly admits to the Charlotte, N.C. single mom.

Taken aback, Maynard asks the helicopter-riding douche to think of his own mother, who raised him as a single parent, but Kalon immediately cuts her off.

"I love it when you talk, but I wish you'd let me finish," he snaps.

That comment will put Maynard even more on edge. "I love tall, skinny and funny, but I don't love tall, skinny and condescending!" she snaps at him.

Ouch. Another hopeful, Alessandro, reportedly tells her something similar tonight: "I don't have a lot of experience with kids. You've got to teach me."

Not surprisingly, this doesn't go over well with Em:

"You see that as a compromise, not an honor? My daughter isn't a compromise ... anybody I spend the rest of my life with is going to see that as the biggest bonus ever."

Sony Removes Xperia PLAY From ICS Update List

Owners of the PLAY will no longer receive ice Cream Sandwich.

Sony has removed the Xperia PLAY device, from the list of handsets that will receive the Android 4.0 OS.

Back in December 2011, Sony released the Android 4.0 update roadmap, which listed all of the current devices were set to receive the Android 'Ice Cream Sandwich' 4.0 update.

Sony has now announced in a blog post that "after extensive in house testing with our developer teams and working with our partners, we have concluded that a consistent and stable experience, particularly with gaming, cannot be guaranteed for this smartphone on Ice Cream Sandwich - therefore, we will not make the Android 4.0 upgrade available for Xperia PLAY."

The following handsets are still listed in the queue for the ICS update; Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia neo and neo V, Xperia mini and mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active, Xperia ray, Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman.

The Xperia PLAY shipped with a slide-out PlayStation-esque games controller, a 4in display, 512MB of RAM and 400MB of internal memory. The device also comes with an 8GB microSD card to increase the phone's available memory, but users can extend this with a 32GB card.

The device features a Qualcomm 1GHz Scorpion processor, a five-megapixel camera capable of 720p video recording, and it ran from the Android ?Gingerbread' 2.3 OS.

Fiat SpA is taking fresh guard in India, this time on its own. However, cynics say Fiat has an uphill task ahead as perseverance and faith in the Indian market were found wanting in the earlier two joint venture attempts, though the company had the first-mover advantage.

Experts believe that if Fiat does not get it right this time around, it will remain a fringe player in India.

Fiat's game plan is to set up its own national sales company which will create an independent distribution network, build product portfolio comprising small cars, SUVs, MPVs and introduce other group brands like Jeep, Chrysler into India even as it works to restore its brand image in the country.

Unfazed by what doomsayers say, Enrico Atanasio, head-commercial, Fiat India, appeared confident as he leads the third charge for Fiat in India. "We will develop a broad range of cars. We are investing in the right products and segments that could be developed for the Indian market," Atanasio said.

Much of New Mexico was a under haze and smoke Saturday night because of the Whitewater-Baldy Fire.

Video and photos from around the state showed photos of gray or brown skies.

"We couldn't really go outside yesterday it was really thick, then I remembered last year how come I couldn't come out and it?s because of this," said an Albuquerque resident.

According to the website Air Now, the Air Quality Index showed hazardous measurements in the Metro area and especially in San Juan County.

"It looks pretty bad. It looks like it can harm a lot of people," another Albuquerque resident said.

State leaders warn staying indoors if possible, especially senior citizens, small children, and those with respiratory problems.

Teams at the Universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Southampton and York are striving to create nanoscale circuits, using transistors that are 80,000 times smaller than a hair?s breadth. Because the circuits in today?s ipods and PCs will not work with nano-transistors, this research ? which is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council ? is vital to prevent the industry from grinding to a halt.
In the next decade, transistors will not only be ten times smaller ? they will also behave very differently. Two of todays transistors, identical in shape and size, will behave in more or less the same way. That, however, will not be the case at nanoscale.

The next generation of transistors will, in the jargon of chip design, be ?unmatched?? despite being apparently identical. They will also be extremely ?noisy?, adding a strong random signal of their own (known as device noise) to whatever signal they are dealing with.

?The circuits we currently use cannot cope with this form of mismatch and randomness,? says Professor Alan Murray, of the University of Edinburgh. ?They will require at least re-design - possibly even complete replacement - with circuits that have not yet been invented. We can?t wait for silicon technology to create viable, production-line nanoscale transistors. It will then be too late to start looking for ways to use them. We must start now.?

This new project will allow circuits to be designed that can cope with, or even make use of, the unavoidable bad behaviour of nanoscale transistors. It will use e-Science ? which draws on shared data and massive computing power ? to bring together computer simulations of transistors that do not yet exist and simulations of circuits that use them.

Principal investigator, Professor Asen Asenov, of the University of Glasgow, is looking forward to the challenge: ?This project brings together leading semiconductor device, circuit and system experts from academia and industry and e-scientists with strong Grid expertise. The most common hemizygous deletions in cancer, their research shows, involve a variety of tumor suppressing genes called STOP genes (suppressors of tumorigenesis and proliferation) that scatter randomly throughout the genome, but that sometimes cluster in the same place on a chromosome. And these clusters, said Elledge, who is also a professor of medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, tend to be deleted as a group. "Eliminating the cluster gives a bigger bang for the deletion buck," he said.

This finding is especially interesting in light of the two-hit model of cancer formation, which holds that both copies of a recessive gene need to be inactivated to trigger a biological effect. Thus the loss of a single tumor suppressor copy should have little or no influence on tumor cell proliferation because the remaining copy located on the other chromosome is there to pick up the slack.

Elledge's research points to a different hypothesis, namely that STOP genes in a hemizygous deletion aren't recessive but are instead haploinsufficient, meaning that they depend on two copies to function normally. "If a tumor suppressor is haploinsufficient, then a single gene copy lacks the potency needed to fully restrain tumorigenesis," Elledge explained, who is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. "So by removing clusters of haploinsufficient genes all at once, the cancer cell immediately propels its growth forward without having to wait for the other copies to also be lost."

Angelika Amon, a professor of biology at the Massachusetts of Technology, said she's surprised by the findings. "We've known from a lot of human syndromes that haploinsufficiency is widespread in the development of complex multicellular organisms," she said. "But these data show it's also critical for individual cells and cell proliferation."

The results also offer a different take on the two-hit model in carcinogenesis, Amon said. Being remarkably unstable, cancer cells can delete gene copies at every turn of the corner. If the loss of a single tumor suppressor copy provides no survival advantage for the tumor, then the tumor has no incentive to retain the cell with that deletion. But if the loss of that copy boosts proliferation, then the probability of a second hit later is greatly increased. "So haploinsufficiency is a way for the cancer cell to dramatically accelerate the acquisition of growth beneficial mutations," Amon said.

In other words, all it takes is a 50 percent reduction in gene activity for a cancer cell to grow. "That tells us it's a lot easier to get cancer than we might have hoped," Amon said.

According to Elledge, the number of hemizygotic deletions averages roughly six per tumor, with some tumors -- breast and pancreatic, for instance -- averaging up to ten. Each deletion involves 25 to 40 genes, many of them STOP genes, but also a few GO genes (growth enhancers and oncogenes) that enhance proliferation. That the STOP genes substantially outnumber their GO counterparts is important, Elledge explained, because it means cancer cells can tilt scales toward proliferation without also compromising it at the same time.

"The data reveal a lot of haploinsufficient players that have small effects individually, but large effects in combination," Elledge said. "Unfortunately, it's not easy to see how to take advantage of that chemotherapeutically."

What's important about the results, he emphasized, is that they open up new views on how tumors evolve. Moreso, they underscore the importance of proliferation as a fundamental feature of tumor growth, he added.

The challenge now, Elledge said, will be to find out which of the genes in a recurring deletion are haploinsufficient. "At the moment, we estimate roughly 25 percent," he said. "So these findings could also have important ramifications for other human diseases in addition to cancer."
