U.S. troops deaths continue in Afghanistan

Is Operation Enduring Freedom having any success? Who knows. We do know there are still 90,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Forty-one Americans died in the battle in July. This is the highest number of deaths in a month since September, 2011.

Friday, August 10th, six U.S. troops were killed by Afghan allies in two separate incidents. Thursday, August 16th, 7 U.S. troops were killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash in Afghanistan. A man wearing an Afghan police uniform opened fire on U.S. troops in southwestern Afghanistan on Friday, killing two service members.

U.S. troops returning from the war in the Middle East continue to suffer. Suicides have reached a record high. According to the most recent Pentagon data, 244,217 U.S. military men and women have been diagnosed with TBI [traumatic brain injury], often caused by one or more exposures to bomb blasts. Thousands more are believed to have experienced undiagnosed mild brain damage from blast injuries.

As I have said before, the Soviets tried to control Afghanistan for 10 years and 100,000 troops with no luck. Is it time to pull out of Afghanistan?
